As the referral unit ran a daily out patient, referrals were made regularly, and the department grew in strength and popularity.  All services are provided free of cost to patients.

As strong referral unit developed for liaison psychiatry from both govt. and private hospitals to the department which continues to be the only Child Psychiatry Unit in the Government set up . Children aged 0 – 18 are referred for emotional ,  behavioural ,  and  developmental  problems. Detailed assessment and management programmes are carried out by the faculty and  the  po st graduates  posted  at  the  Department,  from Osmania and other Medical Colleges . The school health Clinic run on a daily basis by the hospital would also bring back referrals from many schools of Hyderabad . Some of the local schools would send high school children to the hospital as part of the SUPW programs .

The Department  of  Child  Psychiatry  was  a pioneer  in  the  field offering  excellent  care  to  children   with   scholastic  and psychological problems.

The department also handle sissuance of SADEREM certificate to Specially abled children like Intellectual Disability,  Autism and Learning disorder to get benefits  from government .

Learning  disability certificate is issued to the needy to get benefits during exams .

Department works closely  with  BHAROSA  centers  and  Child  and Adolescent welfare homes  to  monitor  children  if  they  require  any psychiatric assistance.

Medicolegalcases include assessment of both Victims and Perpetrators under 18 yrs for helping the victims and certifying the perpetrators if asked by court of  law.
