NILOUFER HOSPITAL IS AWARDED THE “QUALITY CERTIFIED” TAG UNDER THE LAQSHYA PROGRAM ON 13TH NOV 2023 BY NHM.

PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION AT NILOUFER HOSPITAL

Implementing this programme in the year 2023 at the Niloufer Hospital has bought plenty of changes such as structural, process improvements and various outcomes as key performance indicators before and after the implementation of the programme. On November 13th, 2023 the hospitals Labour room and Maternity operation theaters received the “Quality certified” tag under the LaQshya Program. The NHM assessment reflected excellent scores, with the Labour room achieving 98.5% and the maternity OT scoring 97.1% .

Under the guidance of LaQshya, the quality of Niloufer Hospital has improved to an astounding making us the proud bearers of the prestigious “Platinum badge” which was evident with the obvious improvement in various outcome indicators. Despite the implementation, LaQshya was an uphill trudge, to break old habits and restrain into new norms and guidelines, the results as mentioned proved to be a beautiful view at the end of the climb. LaQshya is indeed a boon not only to the mothers benefiting from it but also to the service provider as a tool to be a better health care personnel.

ABOUT LAQSHYA PROGRAM

LaQshya is an initiative to improve the Quality of Care (QoC) in the Labour Rooms (LRs), Operation Theatres (OTs) in the areas of mother and child services of public health facilities across the country. LaQshya brings together Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) approaches and strives to provide a better experience of care to the beneficiaries by integrating the concept of respectful maternity and newborn care. The Program aims at implementing ‘fast-track’ interventions for achieving tangible results. Under the initiative, a multi-pronged strategy has been adopted such as improving infrastructure up-gradation, ensuring availability of essential equipment, providing adequate human resources, capacity building of health care workers and improving quality processes in the Labour room (L/R), Obstetric ICUs, HDUs and Maternity Operation Theaters (MOTs) at Public health facilities are operationalized under LaQshya program.

OBJECTIVE:

  • Reduce preventable maternal and newborn mortality, morbidity and stillbirths associated with the care around delivery in Labour room and maternity OT.
  • Improve quality of care provided to pregnant mother in Labour Room and Maternity Operation Theatres (OTs), thereby preventing undesirable adverse outcomes associated with childbirth.
  • Enhance satisfaction of beneficiaries and provide Respectful Maternity Care (RMC) to all pregnant women attending public health facilities.
  • Improve Quality of care during the delivery and immediate post-partum care, stabilization of complications and ensure timely referrals and enable an effective two-way follow-up system.

The Quality Improvement in Labour room and Maternity OT will be assessed through NQAS (National Quality Assurance Standards). Every facility achieving 70% score on NQAS will be certified as LaQshya certified facility. Furthermore, branding of LaQshya certified facilities will be done as per the NQAS score. Facilities scoring more than 90%, 80% and 70% will be given Platinum, Gold and Silver badge accordingly. Facilities achieving NQAS certification, defined quality indicators and 80% satisfied beneficiaries will be provided incentive of Rs 6 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh for Medical College Hospital, District Hospital and FRUs and respectively for Tertiary and Quaternary care hospitals as per bed strength.
